I once read where someone added a second fan (on the other side of the video card, opposite the existing fan) Any advantange to doing this? I have my comp. overclocked and at 980mhz, my video craps out after playing Quake for any length of time.

Just looking for some way to get more out of it.

thanks,

Mattlock

yeah, seems that your VGA is overheating... you may want to add a better fan and some RAM heatsinks for it.

thanks Neverwinter. You mentioned heatsinks for the ram... Do you mean the Video RAM or the system RAM?

thanks,

Nick,

I am thinking about upgrading to an Athlon 2100. How do you like yours?

I havent done anything yet with the GPU problem yet. If I back my cpu down to 933 I really dont have any problem but I will try it eventually.

I want to try my hand at overclocking so I am thinking of getting a SLK800 HS with a Thermaltake 80mm smartfan. I've heard that is a really good combo for overclocking.

There are lotsa solutions. You can get a slot blower that fits into PCI slot 1 (which should never be populated IMO if you can help it unless you have a 66mhz PCI there) which will pull hot air from your GPU out the back of your case. You can also get slot cloolers that mount perpendicularly on top of your PCI cards that also help with airflow. You can try ramsinks, but many sites have shown they don't help as much as you might think. The best solution IMO is one that gets the hot air away from your CPU and GPU and out of the case.
