Went on travel for my company last week and didn't eat much so I have a decent per Diem check coming. I want to upgrade my LCD to a 23", but I'm also thinking about a MB and RAM upgrade.

My current system (in sig) is running fine. However, a few more FPS never hurts. My MB is a DDR2 board but is running an Athlon II which can do DDR3. Would it help if I replaced my MB and RAM with a newer MB and 1333 DDR3? If so, how much of an improvement are we talking about?

I wonder if a Bulldozer motherboard will be backward compatible with an Athlon II? Then I can get upgrade my MB but keep my CPU until I can afford to upgrade it. The only question is whether Bulldozer will be worth it.

AM3+ is supposed to be backwards compatible with AM3 CPUs. The only downsides is Bulldozer CPUs will not be backwards compatible with AM3 mobos.

AM3+ motherboards are not out yet and I would double check before buying one that it will support your CPU.

Excellent news. Since I'm working fine at the moment I will not do anything until AM3+ boards start coming out.

Thanks for the info.
