I want to test two different hard drives but I want to test them from a benchmark that can run from a USB flash drive and not from the actual OS. Does such a thing exist? I want to rule out Windows and anything else and just test the drive hardware itself.

you still need to boot into some sort of os to run an utility. most it shops have a minimum os boot disk with a bunch of diagnostic software they slipstreamed together.

Well yeah. That's why I mentioned booting from a Flash Drive (or CD or whatever). Just don't know what options there are...

I know I used to use something for diagnostics and virus stuff, but not for benchmarks...
