any bassoon players?

anyone know an online store for woodwind reeds?

my daughter started playing the bassoon and the reeds at the local shop are $9 !

thanks

have a nice day

p.s. she is in sixth grade, so we don't need fancy ones, just decent quality so she can learn to play without it costing us $1,000,000 for reeds

$1,000,0000 == $9 ?

😕

By the way, the bassoon is far and away the hardest woodwind instrument to play, and very difficult in general. Why is she playing it?

i might have exagerated, i guess it would take a lot of $9 reeds to reach $1,000,000, i suppose

her teacher is a n00b and thought it would be cool to get somebody to play it. so he told her about how much scholarship $ she could get if she learned to play the bassoon

she is fairly musically talented and picking it up pretty good. she is more interested in learning it than she was in the clarinet.

the bassoon belongs to the school

D'oh!

i want a good $5 reed with free shipping! maybe rossman can conjur something up if i sacrifice a possum or something

Reeds for woodwind instruments are not cheap. Suck it up and pay the price.

Heh, heh, she will fubar many of them for the first year or so. 😀

i can't complain , she made it 3 weeks on her first one, much better than the clarinet, she was killing 1 per week of those, but they are only $1

Ugh...let me put it this way. I knew a girl who began playing the bassoon in college. This girl was an amazing musician. She could play any band instrument at a junior high level and was very accomplished at the piano and bassoon. For her master's recital she played several pieces on the bassoon. She began playing that instrument because she was bored with the others and someone told her it was the hardest wind instrument. And she still struggled with it, although admittedly she was aiming for a much higher level.

All of which to say...good luck to your daughter I guess.

Fascinating.

I was going to say I knew this girl that plays the skin flute, but your post is much more provocative.:Q
