Any basic Widescreen TV's?

1 GBP = 1.40410 USD ...seem pretty reasonably priced.

Anyone know of any basic units like these available in the US??

All I ever see are "HDTV" Widescreen TVs ... way too expensive.

Yeah, that sucks. Most new TVs sold in Europe are 16x9. I don't know why there aren't as many here. I guess they all make them HDTV because that's the standard that will use 16x9 format, but it still would be nice to be able to get cheaper ones for DVDs.

I don't think so. I looked hard last year, and settled on a Sony Wega.
