Any Baseball card pros here? (Randy Johnson and Roger Clemens)

My 'lil brother asked me to find out what these cards were and what they were worth and any other info there is. So I turn to the braniacs here at AnandTech for the answer 😉
The pics are'nt the greatest but should be good enough to identify?

EDIT: Updated/Clearer pics/Very Close Up

Front of the cards
Back of the cards

You need pictures of the back of the card also. That will have the year information.

Or you could provide them already, and make BigJ look like an idiot 🙂

Clearer pictures would help. The text is what you need to make out.

Cards are worth what the market is willing to pay. And the market for baseball cards hit rock bottom several years back.

Too damn blurry for me to read any of it :-X

And to be fair, as jpeyton just said, the only thing they are worth is what someone is willing to pay and the buying and selling of EVERYTHING on the internet got big, baseball cards haven't sold for crap because the old school baseball card shops mostly tanked.

People really only look for rookie cards and the ultra rare cards anymore.

Yeah, in general the only sports cards that are worth anything these days are rookie cards. Seriously, the clemens is probably a couple bucks at best, and the RJ might be around 10-20. Im not an expert in baseball though, I only do football.

Just check completed listings on eBay. What jpeyton said is pretty much bang on. You can look at book values in Beckett or other price guides, but personally I find Beckett values to be a bit inflated because (imho) they are in bed with Upper Deck which holds such a huge share of the market these days.

If you are really desperate to know the book value, you can create an account at Beckett.com and use the "My Collections" tool to add the cards. When you have added them, the book value will be shown when you view them in your collections.

edit: hmm that Fleer Clemons card is #'d /20. Might be worth something. Is the Johnson card an actual auto'd card or is that just the design of the set?

Man, I haven't priced baseball cards in like ten years!

Guessing here.. the Roger Clemens card doesn't look too spectacular. Brand looks to be Fleer.. Since he's with the Yankees, that means year 1999-2003. I'd say a couple bucks tops.

The Randy Johnson card looks interesting.. signature.. Brand? Upper Deck? Year? It could have some value but not a treasure.

I can't speak for baseball, but hockey cards are still extremely marketable on eBay. I have bought and sold quite a bit over the past few years.

I locked all of my sports cards up in the garage including about 10 unopened boxes of 80-90s era cards.

Hopefully they will be worth something someday along with my Nintendo Power collection and garbage pail kids.

I tried that Beckett.com that Meltdown75 suggested..

2000 Fleer E-X Roger Clemens
1996 Leaf/Donruss Randy Johnson

$0.75-$1.50 each varying on condition.

You're looking up the wrong things.

The Clemens is part of a special release, 2000 Fleer EX Essential Collections-Now, and the RJ is a 1996 Leaf Authentic Signature card.

Thanks for the info. Does anyone else have any approx value ?

My brother said something about a real signature on the Randy Johnson. He also said the Roger Clemons is a special card that was limited to 20 produced.

Both those statements are correct. The Authentic Signatures was a limited series where all the cards carried the actual signatures of the players, and the Clemens card has which number it is out of the series (x/20).

If you really want to know the prices on them, you can go on Beckett.com and get a month subscription to their price guide for a few bucks.

Thanks on the advice, but like many other card collectors, I've been out of the scene for at least 12 years. The last card I bought was a 1969 Nolan Ryan 😉

That's why I'm asking here to see if I can get some info. I don't want to pay a mth or two subscription just to look these 2 cards up.

The Randy Johnson card is worth $60-120 according to the Beckett. The Clemens isn't listed to due scarcity.

I would guess you could get around $100 for it, just a guess though. Only way to find out is to list it on eBay.

Well I'll ask my brother what he wants to do. He's into Basketball now and does'nt care much for Baseball. Thanks for the extra info.
