There are many data processing outfits that service banks. One of the largest is FiServe and it's subsidiary, Summit Information Systems, which services Credit Unions via Unix based proprietary software.
 
I worked at a bank a year ago and we used a program called ENCORE to carry out basic transactions. The program we used to check accounts in detail and to get information to analyze people's credit was IMS. <.....?
