Any bad Opteron 165 steppings?

I'm going to be purchasing a 165 and was wondering if there is any bad opteron 165 steppings that should be avoided for overclocking? Also is there any stepping that is generally considered the best? Thanks, Rob

From what I hear there are no bad steppings per se. All 165s will do as advertised from AMD. Apparently some are better than others though for higher overclocks from what I have read here on these forums. There are a few threads posted which ones have been the best. Just do a search for the 165 or manually look back the dozens of pages and look over the Headers of the threads. The steppings change over time so often its a crapshoot.

0530 = best
0541 = worst
everything else is in between.

I believe so...I could be wrong - so many numbers/letters are revolving in my head right now.

So if i get a 0541 should I be concerned about how high i'll be able to overclock it?

Nah, it'll still OC 20%+...prolly better than the X2's.
