or do you need to get that mp3 player looking thing from them? or have they moved onto something else for the home?
 
There are some AVRs that can work with add-on receivers, the black box type. There may be some that have built-in sat radio at this point too. Crutchfield is probably the fastest place to find out.
 
The majority require you to buy a small receiver/antenna which handles the decryption/processing of the signal. All of the controls are then handled by the AVR.
