for straight vanilla acad you fine with anything really (1.6 ghz or higher). 3D card nothing really, hd space just for program, ram like 512. acad has some very basic requirements.
It's surprising to me, that our machines that do such a good job rendering games, can do such a poor job with AutoCad drawings.
FWIW, there are guides to make ATI cards work similarly to the FireGL cards. Often the same chipsets, and with new drivers, they do a pretty good job as FireGL cards. http://www.techarp.com/showarticle.aspx?artno=105&pgno=0
