Any audiophiles got a good headphones review site?

Looking for some new headphones for my PC, iPod and TV. Got some Shure E3Cs but the earpieces are a little irritating for my ear holes, plus the bass isn't super on them (listening to Rock, Electrotronic, Hip-Hop, and the such) so I wanted to try to get some good can headphones. Most places I've been looking at recommend the Grado's or Sennheisers. I'm looking at the 100-150 price range. Anyone have any sites that they trust? I've looked at Cnet reviews too but they aren't that comprehensive.

Great phones, but they don't exactly have nice bass.
I compared my friend's HD280pro with my HD-497.
We both agreed that my HD-497 sounded better.

what exactly is the difference between open and closed? does open allow a little more ambient noise to get through. (might not be a bad thing for me on public transportation every day)

open allows noises to enter and exit more than closed. closed however will become sweaty, and they sound a LOT different than open.

Try to save up a little more for HD580, or HD600s. Though they really need an amp to shine; they are awesome phones for the price and are very comfortable for lengthy usage. The soundstage is incredible. Also note that they are open air phones so they'd obviously be relegated to home usage. The HD600s were one of the best purchases I've ever made; my only regret is wondering whether or not wearing them so often is going to damage my ears, which I've heard conflicting reports about. (headphones causing hearing loss more than speakers)

Yeah you'll definitely want closed then.
Canalphones are really the best for sound isolation. But if you can't stand them, then get the HD280Pro, or another good one is the Sony MDR-V6(NOT THE V600)
The Sony one is better if you like bass. They should both cost about the same.
Here's a comparison

If you want to shell out some more money and get some REALLY nice ones.
There is the Beyerdynamic DT250 for $150
http://shop.vendio.com/inetdistributors/item/814801824/?s=1139223601
However, it's rated at 80ohms, so you'll probably want a headphone amp to drive these. The cmoy amp is popular and goes for around $30. They are your basic altoid tin amp. The next step up is the PA2V2 or there is the go-vibe, both go for around $60-70

well i can't get the canalphones, like you said, they are kinda annoying when i try to put them on and take them off. i don't really want complete isolation just in case i need to hear some anouncements or something on the train. I got the shure ec3s right now but they are inner ear phones so no help there. I really just need a good cans set. Ill look over those reviews 😀

EDIT: also 90% of the usage is going to be an ipod to and from work, so any suggestions for something that would work well with it, i know ipod can be a bit ooomp-less

www.head-fi.org

dangerous website.

I have BeyerD DT880s RSA Hornet and iRiver H320. (~800 dollars total)

I want to get a better source eventually, maybe a DAC, and definitely a nice ~80 dollar interconnect from RnB.

Do not get open phones for use outdoors or where there may be any ambient noise. You will hear it clearly and it will be distracting.

For indoors, Grado's are a great choice.

Personally, I endorse the Sony V6 for all other usage.

This thread was made out of pure laziness. This is not like asking about car reviews or hardware reviews. There is only ONE de-facto standard for headphone reviews and discussion. A simple google search should have found it.

The sr-60's actually have stronger bass then the 80s. On the 80s the bass is more refined but it is weaker for sure.
