Any ATOTers familiar with Kansas City casinos?

I'm not expecting Vegas, but I still had a few questions:

Drink service - does it exist? Is it free? In Vegas friends and I could get plastered while carefully losing $20 slowly at a roulette table. It would be spectacular if I could do the same in Kansas City.

Cheap Casinos - I'm going with a few friends, many of whom don't like to gamble much. What are the cheap(er) casinos with traditional table games? I know my friends would be happy with a bank of penny/nickel slots, I wouldn't mind some $1-$3 minimum bet table games.

Other exciting stuff - Once we've lost enough money and drunk enough booze, what else is there to do, aside from going back to the hotel and passing out?

Speaking of hotels - any reccomendations? We just need 1 night (Thursday). Cheap is good.

Thanks in advance ATOT.

I haven't been to the boats in many years, so no help there. However, a visit to the Woodlands in KCK would help me stay employed. Can you bet on greyhound races in LV?

I'll buy you a drink if you come while I'm working.

What is/are the Woodlands in KCK? I've never been out to this part of the country before, so I have no idea what I'm getting myself in to.

And that bit about the drinks is unfortunate :(

You do have to show ID and get a card issued to enter KC casinos. Woodlands unfortunately is pretty dead except for paramutual betting, no slots or anything. Its in KCK, casinos are KCMO. They have tried to get slots at the track but the religious Kansans would rather casino money be spent 10 miles away on the other side of the border...idiots!

I thought you could get free drinks, but I could be wrong.

I am not that familar with the casinos overall but everytime I have been to Harrahs on the weekends it is packed to the hilt and hard to get to any table. GL and put $50 on black for me.

Make sure you check out the barbeque.

Will-do. About the barbeque. Screw the betting on black, I lost $280 in Vegas betting on black thinking it *had* to come up next. red came up 15 times in a row, and of course as soon as I called it quits, black popped up.

Do you remember the minimum bets?

The Woodlands is a greyhound & horse racing facility. There's lotsa simulcast horse & dog tracks to bet on in addition to the live racing.

I was mostly kidding, but you can go there and have a reasonably good time without spending a fortune. Otherwise, bctbct hit the nail on the head. It's hard to believe this state doesn't just wither on the vine, given the idiots that run it. Good luck at the boats.

Also, check out Liberty Memorial. It's the only WW1 tribute/museum around, I believe. Union station might be something else to look at. Westport is a bar centric area, and the Country Club Plaza is nearby, kinda cool.

I've lived in the KC area all my life, and I am ashamed that I dont know more about what to do around here. Anyway, it is a big enough town that you and your buddies should be able to stay amused if you try.

Harrah's is probably your best bet for any Casino in the KC area. Stay away from Isle of Capri unless you have low self esteem and want a boost to your ego by being the best looking person in the place (because most people there would be lucky to have a full set of teeth). Ameristar is decent and so is Argosy, but Harrah's usually has the most going on. I doubt you'll find any table games under 5 dollars though, and there are usually only very few 5 dollar games going at any time (especially on the weekends). I don't play the slots but I think they do have some penny and nickel slots.

it is 12 degrees right now in KC. Ameristar is a pretty cool casino because they have lots to do there besides gamble. Decent restaruants and bars. Movie theater etc.
