Still, it's sad to see the end of an era.

The music selection in general sucks and the hosts are annoying.

Sad but true. Most run through the same tiny playlist over and over and over until you hate every song. Then, to add to your misery, Tom Shane tries to tell you a diamond. Every ten minutes. On EVERY FM station. Fuck that.

<--- has his own show on 91.1FM and plays only ONE promo every hour.

Good riddance. That station was full of unfunny morons.

What about Toucher?

Dekker was funny as well.

Which show is yours? I'm thinking about listening to WREK more since normal radio just pisses me off.

I pretty much stopped listening mornings after Toucher left.

It's sad as 99x was one of my favorite stations. I listened to Barnes, Leslie, and Jimmy in the morning for years and loved it when Toucher took over. Even after Toucher left, I always listened to Steve's Retroplex during lunch and Organic X on Sunday morning.

I've listened to 99x since I moved to Atlanta in '97. It's really sad to see it go, especially to be replaced by a top 40 station of all things. Atlanta needs another one of those like I need SLI 3DFX Voodoo cards.

When I was driving in to work on Monday and heard the Burt show on 99x, I too thought to myself "WTF??" I can't stand the Burt show. Lame topics and way too many freaking ads (yes, Tom Shane can go fuck himself, and those D gellar and son guys too, and that fucktard Jared. I DON'T WANT JEWELRY)

Yep, this sucks big time. I moved to Atlanta a year and a half ago, and 99x was pretty much all I listened to. I actually liked their morning show with Sean, Leslie and Jenners. Not the best and completely random, but I thought it was funny and entertaining. And the music selection was good.

I can't stand those douchebags in the morning on 96.1 either. I don't find them even remotely entertaining, and one of their voices drives me nuts. They are all about how great they are and how they put 99x out of business

Fortunately for me, my buddy just purchased a new Sirius Stilleto 2 and offered to give me his old sportster. So now I am listening to Sirius, and I couldn't be happier. Howard 100, 21 alt nation, 24 lithium.....great stuff.

Terrestrial radio can bite me.

While I'll agree they've gone down the crapper the last few years, they were still one of the better music-based stations in Atlanta so yeah, I'll miss 99x. I can't pick up most of the smaller stations and haven't wanted to shell out the money for satellite radio.

Well this does suck. Seems they lost a good many people in the transition. I kind of enjoyed listening to Axel in the evenings.

Ah well, guess I'll have to live with 96.1 for the most part. Was kind of nice to have a choice though, although sometimes the stations would be playing the exact same song at the same time.

The regular guys are back on 100.5, I wonder how long they will last this time.

If you can afford it, get sirius. It's so much better than normal radio, I can't even listen to regular radio anymore. There is so much content, there is ALWAYS something good to listen to

I was seriously *this* close to looking into Sirius until I heard the RG on this morning - I'm pretty psyched about it. The biggest problem is I can't pick up that station well at all from my office and they don't appear to have online streaming just yet. Hopefully soon.

I noticed a lot of the rock stations around my area turning into Christian and Country stations. I don't like either of those things :-(

In the SF Bay Area a couple of years back we lost both 92.3 KSJO and Channel 104.9, when they turned into Mexican stations. At this rate, we'll be part of Mexico by the end of the next decade. Blech...

I stopped listening to the radio a long time back, as it's for the most part worthless. Thanks, Clear Channel.

i've been listening to that station since it was power 99 back in the day. i was sad, it was the only FM station i listened to and i really don't like q100. unfortunately the station got ruined by a management change and never regained it's former glory. i guess all the morons who listen to the bert show can hear it farther away now, yay for them.

Are you serious. I used to come home from Savannah (They only play 60's rock, and nickelback here, it really sucks) just to hear 99x. It's a sad day in my book. They will be missed.

Yep,

Q100 took them over, which is top 40 crap over and over again.

I read in the AJC that Q100's old station 100.5 will become a rock station though, so maybe that'll be half decent.

i caught a few songs today, ozzy and um, nickelback i think. sounds like what 96 rock had become before project 961 took over.

But 100.5 is still owned by Cumulus. I don't trust them to make a good station.

Heh - you had my hopes up, then I clicked it and it's the online version of 99X (not Q100) - music only.
