Saw the thread in the video section about the Cat 9.6 release, poked around the F@H forum & found this.

Apparently some people are able to get the proper 3D clocks with an X2 with 9.6 vs 9.5.

Anyone here tried it?

9.6 been ok?

yeah... i haven't noticed any problems... but then i haven't noticed any problems since 9.2 i think it was.

the 4890 is cranking out the ppd and it's running really cool too... only 56C (under full load)... of course i have the fan at 65%... everything else is stock. I'll most likely but this card on water as soon as i can afford the parts.

Not bad at all :), my HD 4830 runs from high 50s to mid 60s depending upon room temps, fan speed @45%.

What ppd does your 4890 give?

oh... and my system is still very usable. I've noticed that the systems that i have an nvidia card in are basically unusable, can't do anything on the nvidia system except let it crunch.

Re Nvidia cards, odd have you heard of the new core where you can set commands to lower GPU load?

not really worried about it, since i don't use these systems to do anything except crunch...with on exception.. the one that's hooked up to my TV that I watch movies on.. so for that system i'll have to find this new core.

You're probably way ahead of me on this, but if you're on Vista, enable Aero. I always forget to turn it on after I reinstall Windows and pull my hair out wondering why my system acts like it's running on a 8086 with a 5.25" floppy.

Lol, but he was saying that when crunching F@H on Nvidia GPUs that that makes them unuseable.
