any AS/400 users here?

Just curious to see if there are any midrange system folks(i.e. AS/400) such as myself lurking around here

as/400 sux! they're too expensive and you can't overclock them or upgrade them!

actually i'd like one of those. how much are they?

Worked a bit on them...operations wise...nothing to do with the hardware...everytime I go near one of them...my boss would scream his head off!!! Freak !!!!

nah, the 400 is a good box. this is coming from a guy who's programmed on one for over 5 years now you can upgrade the crap out of them, from a variety of sources. jhu is right; they're expensive. an decent box will run you about as much as a tricked-out PC server($12000). i can honestly say after doing some work on a UNIX box(variety of flavors), PCs & the 400, the 400 is the easiest to use.

I love AS/400s.. I had one running my life for 5 years. Paging me in the middle of the night, when things go wrong.. I love em!

Blah on the late night page thing But that's what we buy into in the I/S profession. I've gotten my share of late calls as well. I can honestly say that I'm not called as much now.
