one of my parent's friends wants to buy a painting...
it's a 19th century painting...rather interesting, it's an oil painting done on cardboard
it's going on ebay for about a couple thousand
...
I'm somewhat making the assumption that the previous owner was probably a museum and the painting was under climate control (it's not very big by the way)...however I'm not sure of it.
the question is, did they have acid free cardboard back than because they have that type of paper for photography...but I'm curious as to how a medium such as cardboard could survive for so long and could it survive coming to columbus where there's heat and humidity and very cold temperatures as well?
...
the lady is going to call some local gallery owners and probably southerby's or something like that, but I was wondering if anyone could offer some advice?
