Any Apple users with a Dell 2408WFP?

So, I ordered a 2408WFP after I sold my 2005WFP (I loved that monitor, and couldn't deal with getting a cheaper TN panel, or even a nicer panel without all the goodies like the Dell stand and USB hub). Because I'm obsessive, I was reading every little review and video on it, since that's the closest I could come to playing with it until it gets here. It was all unanimous: this is the best 24" monitor you can get short of an NEC or Apple Cinema that cost twice as much.

Then I read the reviews on Mac usage. Ugh. People said it's hard to calibrate, the Reds are oversaturated, blah blah blah. Granted, these are people who are a). in professional (or at least they want to pretend they're professional) print capacities and b). they're hoping it's an Apple Cinema replacement (you get what you pay for; it's a nice monitor, but it's not an ACD). So maybe it's all overblown, but I'd hate to think that after buying specific parts to build a hack, and all this trouble, I'd have to go back to window because it doesn't agree with my LCD (or, sell the LCD and buy something else/worse).

Anyone have any experience?

In my old IT job (at a newspaper) we bought Dell Ultrasharp monitors instead of Apple Cinema Displays. At least up until I stopped paying attention, the ACD's and Dell Ultrasharp's used the exact same panels.

Do they? I thought so too, but then came across something regrading the ACD's using IPS panels.

And if you're not into exact color matching, then you should be fine. My gripe w/ the Dell's is the tilt it has. It's ever so slight on all our 17" ultrasharps, as well as the couple of 19" ones, and the 24" we have. As well as my brother's 24" (these were purchased about 1.5yrs apart, dunno the models specifically).

Well I said up until I stopped paying attention, and that was a couple of monitor generations ago for Dell. They still buy Dell monitors instead of ACD's at the paper though.

I have one, I have never really tried calibrating it though so I can't really comment on that. But it looks great imo!

I have a pair, they're awesome! Calibration doens't make that much of a difference; I used my Gretag on them and there was hardly any change.

Thanks for all the input and info, guys. I guess I'll just have to see it when it gets here. $500 for that HP is a little more than I wanted to spend, but maybe that's an option if I don't like the 2408. Hopefully selling it shouldn't be a problem. Also, I always loved my 2005FPW -- with the exception of some mild backlight bleeding -- but I never knew it was an IPS panel. That figures.
