I second this. I have a tasker profile to turn wifi on when I get home and turn it off when I leave, based on the cell tower(s) I connect to. It works really well. Tasker is worth it as well because there is almost no limit to what you can do with it........

Condi similar to tasker but free. I just set it to do the same thing. EDIT>>> CONTI DIDN'T TURN IT ON WHEN IT WAS SUPPOSED TO.

Wondering though if doing this sucks more battery since it needs to detect location all the time compared to wifi just toggling on its own.

Wifi Matic works great for me, automatically turns wifi on when you are within range of any saved network.

How would the app know that you are in range without wifi already being on?

It uses the cell towers currently in range to determine whether to switch on/off wifi.
