Any Antec 1100 owners here?

I am looking to finally upgrade to a more modern case for my main gaming / general use system at home. I have been using an Antec PlusView case forever now which has been great, but 80mm fans, lack of fast USB connectors, etc. have me wanting something new.

I have been trying to decide between a "quiet" case such as the P280 or a "gaming" case like the 1100. My question about the 1100 is: how noisy is it? I have my PC sitting on my desk just a foot or two from where I sit so I am trying to avoid excess noise. At the same time, I do like being able to look in my case to make sure all of my fans are operating correctly. It seems like quiet enclosures generally don't have windows while gaming cases generally don't have front doors. One nice thing about my existing case is that it has a front foor to cover the noisy components. I see the 1100 does not have this and I wonder how much noise comes out the front.

Thanks in advance.

I am betting its like my 300, but taller. It will probably be noisier than the P280 but not overbearing like my 600 series. Just remember, the bigger the top fan, the more noise you will hear. I can hear the VRMs scream on my Antec 600 series case, but the 140mm top fan on my 300 series does not produce nearly as much noise outside the case.

My 600 series has a 200mm fan on top, so yeah, big opening.

Thanks for the information. I never thought about a bigger opening letting more internal noise out of the case but it certainly makes perfect sense. I was only looking at a bigger fan being quieter but I guess that doesn't help much if there are noisy components inside the case!

My last build i got the Antec 1100. previous build was in an Antec 900

both have same fan setups. 2 front fans across drive bays. 1-200mm top fan.
1-fan at rear top. The 1100 has a spot for a fan on the right side door (back side of motherboard.) i have a fan blowing in

The 1100 is noisier but the sound does not come from the front fans. The 200mm top fan is noisier than the 900 top fan. Not unbearably loud but i can tell when the 1100 is off. The 900 is super quiet. The 900 top fan is 3 speed and i took the 1100 top fan out and it says 3-speed on the hub but there is no way to select speed.

It appears to be running at the high speed. The selector on the back of the case has a toggle to turn off the LED in that fan and below that looks to be a spot for speed select but there is nothing in there to move. Not sure if it is a defect or a design. I am considering getting a new top fan with a speed selector. I tried to plug the fan into a motherboard connection to try to control fan speed that way but the wire is too short.

on the plus side, i love the 1100 because its so huge. tons of room to fit those big-ass videocards. and drive bays that mount the drives sideways so no more SATA cables bashing into the back of the video card.

I have seen this mentioned in a few of the reviews I have read as well. It seems like the top fan isn't the quietest one around, but in a gaming case I guess that probably isn't the top priority. I don't have a problem replacing any of the fans that come with the case (I have four SilenX fans in my case now trying to cut down on noise). My case generally sits about three feet away from me right at ear level so I am more worried about system sounds which is impossible to quantify I suppose. I know I should go with a "quiet" case but I guess even after 20 years of building my own I have a hard time resisting the cool looking cases and the 1100 has that plus some.

You could always turn off the top fan. I don’t even use it on my Antec 902 and I get less dust and noise. Temperatures are not even impacted, except idle GPU which actually dropped a little.
