Just curious if any AA players are on here. Went and LANed last night with my 2 friends and we played AA for like 6 hours. Never had so much fun on AA before. Probably the best game to LAN with :D

Anyway, just curious if any ATers play. If so, we often play at night and use Vent so if you want to join sometime, let me know. Usually play Pipeline.

They made an Xbox 360 game as well. I've never played it. I played the PC game back in college, it was surprisingly fun for a free game.

Yea I don't know anyone who played this on Consoles. I played it a lot when it first came out. I really enjoyed it. I stopped playing for a year or two then I guess they changed it to Rangers or something. Tried getting into it again but got bored.

OK wow they have a Beta released today and I'm freaking out b/c I want to play it but you have to be a Fileplanet subscriber :( :( :(

EDIT: This thread was made before I even knew about the beta coming out today, weird timing

AA 3.0 beta? omg
I think I need to try it out. Haven't played AA in forever, I felt it really started going downhill after about v2.2ish. I really enjoyed the basic late 1.x releases, 2.x introduced a lot but a lot of the annoying kiddies joined up and started making the game feel like Counterstrike featuring US Army. Pissed me off like no other, enough to stop caring and stop playing.

If 3.0 does some good changes, and feels like it plays just right, I might be enticed back.

Hmmm, I'm always looking for good lan games. It's been forever since I played this game (I loved playing defense on Bridge... ah, the memories) but I'll have to look into it again. Thanks for the heads up OP.

argh, I loved Bridge. on the original Bridge level, if the Defense was a damn good team, it was hard as hell to win as the Assault team by objective instead of killing all opfor. Hell, a really good defense tended to win 9 out of 10 rounds, either by time limit or killing all the assault.

Unless Assault was working together very well, using chat and voice, it tended to be brutal on big servers.

But I dunno, my favorite time with AA was still back when I was with The Firing Squad - we played non-honor servers and everyone had some kind of sniper rifle. But then I moved on when all my friends got into the game, and we played SF Hospital after 2.x dropped.
We even played LAN and I set up a personal server, and used cheats built into the game. So fun... one team plays with God mode - allows you to fly around (and if even fly in jesus pose), and uses a cheat to get thermite grenades. The other team plays with the SAW from the ground, attempting to shoot us down. It was like an Air Defense battle... so awesome. :)

This game has a lot of good components! It's not expected that you can enforce team play with a few lines of code, but at least they made a nice attempt to prevent griefing and excessive friendly fire, as well as encourage you to work together towards objectives.

A friend of mine was hooked on Bridge, as was destrekor, but Pipeline was my favorite. I actually played AA quite well on dialup years ago, and then after some significant changes were made to punkbuster, suddenly that just was not possible anymore, and I haven't played it since. I did check out the 3.0 news a few times though, as well as logged into my old account.

Edit: Oh, I do have dsl now, but it's been so long since I played AA I don't know if I want to get started again for now.

Hey guys

I notices Spike is using Lenovo Y580. I am about to buy this laptop and wondering how good it performs in Amercias Army? Is there any chance you test how many frames do you get with fraps on high video settings :)

Many thanks
