I've noticed that the tablet market seems to have Nvidia, Intel and Qualcomm, but no AMD.

Considering that this is where the market growth is, why aren't there any tablets out there that have AMD chips? I would love to buy one, but I guess I can't.

There really isn't much point since ARM is much cheaper than anything AMD has and Intel has the contra revenue going.

AMD can run android, I have done it [link]! The issue is that the amd catalyst driver suite doesnt have support for android display subsystem surface flinger. Right now there is a project called androidx86 [ http://www.android-x86.org/ ] that provides android images that support some amd hardware using vliw5 igps [bobcat, llano, trinity?]. For some reason gcn1.0 and gcn1.1 do not work. The main dev has stated that he is working on newer linux kernels and mesa drivers in upcoming releases!

AMD are bringing out a 20nm A57 + GCN SoC in 2015. Pin compatible with a Puma+ SoC.

Their upcoming ARM SoCs might make it into Android systems.

I just picked up a Digiland 701Q quad-core MediaTek SoC-based tablet, and I'm getting used to Android on a tablet.

I would love to buy a tablet with "AMD ARM inside". I hope AMD can hold it together as a company, to get to the point of releasing their 20nm SoC with their graphics IP. I think that it will be great.

Why would you want to acquire an AMD tablet.

Because 90%+ of the systems I've built have been AMD. I think AMD would STILL be much more competitive if it was like it was back in the late 90's - with the ability to use either Intel or AMD processors on the same motherboard.

Anyway, I guess I'm still partial to AMD like I will always be to TI. Texas Instruments made my first computer, all of my calculators and even the first quasi 486 cpu I had. (486 DLC-40)

I played around with Cyrix for a while but what not horribly impressed with those.
