Any alternatives to MX1000?

Well, I like the idea of this mouse alot. Real, robust precision across many possible reading surfaces. But I HATE cordless pointing devices. Does anyone know if microsoft is going to incorporate this technology or if logitech is going to release a corded version of this mouse?

mx500/510, razer viper.

would doubt there's a huge difference between them anyway. a mouse is a mouse.

MX1000 is a beta mouse if you ask me. Absolutely awful for games due to its lag in 'waking up' for many people once you pick it up and put it down. The MX510 is flawless. Get that one

Why all the hatred about wireless? After a week of use without charging, the battery indicator went down one notch. There's absolutely NO lag at all except when the mouse "wakes up." About the business of the mouse not responding for a second when you lift it then put it down, who really does that? If you're a gamer and you constantly do that a) you suck b) you need a bigger mousepad.

I'm using a sUrface 1030 mousepad since you asked - definitely top of the line. I was scammed into buying the MX1000 and wished I'd waited. The company admits themselves there are issues, most noted by gamers.

Listen, when I say it lags in games, I'm not playing Solitaire like you may be more familiar with. In Counter Strike and other fast paced FPS titles, you need response more than anything else with the controls. My sensitivity is set to low for more control with the sniper rifles, requiring that at times I need to briefly lift the mouse to react to dangers behind me. That crappy MX1000 mouse waited almost a second to respond EVERYTIME.

I go to the 'net message boards and see others suffering the same thing. Some guy even made a video for doubters to see. I took back the beta mouse and got the flawless MX510. Never have I used an otical mouse that doesn't become disoriented no matter how fast I move it. Everything about it is excellent. Get a real mouse and screw the MX1000, unless you just plan to open e-mail or something.

the mX-510 is awesome... if I needed a new mouse I'd get one of those in a heartbeat. I have come to realize I am just used to my Intellimouse Explorer 3.0 so I just keep using it.

works fine for me.
