What problems do people have with Windows Explorer? 😕

Basically, it's good for navigating, executing, renaming and deleting files but that's all.

What does it do that Windows Explorer can't do? Seriously, I'm curious as to what I've been unable to do all along that I might have wanted to be doing all along. 🙂

What he said!😕

The best answer is go and try one of the alternatives and it will open your eyes.

I came from an Amiga background to Windows and the filemanagers we were used to were so much more useful.

..............Windows commander maybe.

Really depends on what you want to do.

That's Total Commander now. This program rocks. I can't even use Windows Explorer anymore.

i still don't get what . . . . from TC's page:
* Two file windows side by side
* Multiple language support
* Enhanced search function
* Compare files / synchronize directories
* Quick View panel with bitmap display
* ZIP, ARJ, LZH, RAR, UC2, TAR, GZ, CAB, ACE archive handling + plugins
* Built-in FTP client with FXP (server to server) and HTTP proxy support
* Parallel port link, multi-rename tool
* Tabbed interface, regular expressions, history+favorites buttons
* New: Thumbnails view, custom columns, enhanced search
* And many more!

What's it really do better? Practically?

If you can find an old copy of Powerdesk v5010 it is by far the best.

Unfortunately Powerdesk was bought by someone that upgraded it to v6 and it ?sux?.

:sun:

I don't know about the pay version, but I found the free version is very useful for tracking down spyware files that are hidden in special windows folders. This is the only program I've found so far that will read the folder "C:\windows\downloaded program files" properly.

This reminds my of my foray into LiteStep back in the late 90's which was quickly reverted to windows..

It all looked very cool but uhm...
