Any alternative to expensive sliding rail kits for mounting U sized server cases?

Trying to get my cpu's in a neat consolidated rack. I got a Codegen Group 4U-500-CA rackmount case, going to build a box for it ( link, link, link, link) , and make my own rails ( specs, taps, prob Lowes for 4 3' aluminum angles).

I couldn't figure out how the case was supposed to mount until I called the Codegen Group people and they told me to take off the plastic pieces on the side of the case. Ah-ha I thought, so I need to screw in rails there or use a Sliding Rack Rail Kit. The sliding rail kit is $50-60 & I don't need to slide the case out -- at least it's not worth $50 to me.

Is there a cheaper alternative besides crafting my own support rails for the case?
