any alternative to AIM

As stated, why is it that you don't want aim so you can be directed to something you might like better.

Also, there are lots of IM programs out there now.
 
well, i don't like the ****** AOL put in the new aim. I have many many many people that only use aim and still would like to use that service

like i want a very light program that just lets me IM people haha

Sometimes I use a site called Meebo.com. It's completely web-based, so you don't have to install anything, and it works with all of the major IM programs. It's pretty nice.

Edit: Not sure if Meebo supports downloading though. I haven't tried it.
