Hi,
I'm looking for a new car deck, something in the $300 range, that can play mp3s. I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions, or can suggest a good review site for car audio.

Who still calls it a "deck"? My only suggestions are that you should install it yourself, purchase the headunit online (try etronics.com) so that you don't get ripped off from one of the major chains, and make sure that you have decent speakers to play music through - nothing equals crap like a nice headunit and stock speakers.

Oh yea, and get a Pioneer :p

Great pricing, incredible customer service, and Do-it yourself instructions for your specific vehicle that even a monkey could follow.

That's not great pricing. It's decent at best. It's good for a newbie or for vehicles which require extensive work to replace audio components.

Go Pioneer, you won't regret it

I call it a deck, what do you call it?

Headunit. "Deck" is reminiscent of "Tape Deck", which infers that you're stuck in the 80's. ;)

Also if you're replacing your original head unit with an after market head unit do you self a favor and buy a wire harness so you don't have to cut any of the original wires. Just in case you want to sell your car without the after market head unit.

get one with face off.

I had my headunit stolen twice within the last year. Also, don't get lazy and forget to hide the face ;-)

i'm actually not a big fan of the pioneer, i think the seek time between mp3s is very long, try clarion or jvc, those two decks work great. Alpine is also a nice HU. try sounddomain.com they do price matching, and they give u a harness and stuff.

etronics = 5.35 on resellerratings??? I don't think so. Sounddomain.com's prices aren't as good (but they will price match) & their service is great.

I currently have an alpine head unit. I had that one for about 5 years, and want to replace it with something that can play mp3's as well as look nicer. I'm thinking of going with the Pioneer 8500 unit or the Sony CDX-M3DI.
Does anyone have any opinion about either one?
