Any advice for a pre-interview social event with an accounting firm?

No more than 2 drinks. I wouldn't abstain, though, unless you really don't normally drink. Having a beer is a social thing, after all.

Remember everyones name. After hearing a name the first time, try to use it in conversation, this will help you remember.

Smile a lot.

Firm handshake.

🙂 I know that much. Any others? I know some of them... always hold my drink in my left hand so that I can shake hands with my right, when I get business cards, make sure I note any important details about the person on the back (after they've left).

A lost art is how to accept a business card.

When given one, look at it intently (you're paying attention to the token given to you)for a few seconds noting title, address, etc.

nothing ticks me off more then somebody taking my card and putting it away...its just rude.

oh, and avoid talking about yourself - let them talk about themselves.

It went well, I had a chance to talk to one of the tax partners from PwC's San Jose office and the senior HR manager for PwC's Seattle office. Now to get some sleep and be ready for my interview tomorrow.
