I used to play LOTS of Rainbow 6 and Rouge Spear and I'd like to start playing 1st person shooters again.. I don't want to spend anymore money than $800.. I've got a couple CD Burners and a floppy I'll be using for the drives, btw.. am I missing something? will this be a relativley good kit in regards to (un)needed upgrades in the future? - thanks for the advice all

ya all good but i dont think the gigabyte a64 boards have a good reputation - try an asus a8v or MSI K8N ( my a8v is lovely)

take a look at the epox 9nda3+ motherboard if you want a good cheap nforce3 socket 939 board.

also, get a good powersupply. the one that is coming with that case is utter crap.

What Azzy64 said. Also if you buy an OEM A64 instead of retail you'll need a heatsink/fan. Check thread #1 in this forum to see if they list one.

Also, if you get an Antec Sonata case instead, it comes with a solid PSU even though it's "only" rated 380 watt.

Get a better PSU other than that your system will play those games just fine. I like my a8v but it is 129$ or so. Its a fast mobo but is not the greatest oc'er

Okay, I revised.. thanks for the catch on that heatsink, btw. -- having been out of the gaming thing for an extended period and being a network-guy anyway, can I expect this rig to keep up w/ most/all games out as of today? ** I have no interest in oc'ing, btw **
