Any Advantages or disadvantages of a LIVE cd OS install?

are there any benefits tooo a operating install onto oyur hjard drive VS. a live cd. Im thinking LINUX here. Thanks

Installing it on your hardrive is a better solution if you want to make permanent use of Linux. If you just want to try it out or use it here and there, then a Live CD should be fine for you. If you have an extra HDD you're not using, I'd recommend you do a harddrive install. Just wondering, what distro's are you looking it?

It will be faster (hard drives are a LOT faster than any CD drive) with the OS installed on the hard drive. It will also make it much easier to install drivers (for new hardware) patches, recompile the kernel, etc. And you could lose the entire system if your CD gets scratched...
