Any advantage to sync'ed gpu/mem clocks?

Is there any advantage to synchronizing the clock speeds of the GPU and video memory?

Well, you'll either get

1) Horrid performance, because the memory speeds on recent cards are usually double the core speed, and you have to clock the memory down
2) Excellent performance and a blown video card from pushing your core to 1GHz

If you mean eg with my gF4 Ti = 300MHz core, 600MHz (300x2) mem do you get an advantage like that?

Beats the hell outta me. I'm gonna say "not worth the trouble" though.

depends on which card you're trying to push. i know that the g2mx was limited in memory, from default of 175 core/ 166 memory, reviews suggest upping the memory first all the way, then do core. but i think the majority of cards run better in sync and if you run it async you just won't get the same kinds of results. it won't be a detriment though. why don't u test it out and tell us?? i would but i think doing tests on my ti4200 on a 750tbird will be too hard to tell.

Mercenary I understand how DDR works, 300mhz DDR is still 300mhz, it just processes a signal twice per clock, on the rise and fall of the voltage spike. Alot of people seem unclear on this. My card is meant to run 290/230 stock (460 effective on the memory) but I have it at 300/300 now. The core will go higher, to like 320 no problem, I was just wondering if it mattered for some other reason, like some processing having to wait or something because one part was slower than another.

I've found running the GPU slightly faster than the RAM gives slightly better performance than running the RAM slightly faster than the GPU... if that makes sense =)
