Got love the good ol' 5.0. I wouldn't mind getting one w/a mint body & interior, then trash the entire engine/drivetrain for some new parts 😀

I love Mustangs but they are of a different vintage obviously. I work on a lot of Fox body stangs and have built several very fast ones over the years but my heart lies elsewhere.

owning a 5.0 is not about looks... its about building it into a monster...

saleen suspension... subframe connectors... cage... and southside bars for body...
= monster handling

stroke motor to 347... TFS twisted wedge heads.... Monster Vortech Fuel system pumps lines rails and injectors... S Trim or better Vortech supercharger and a E303 cam with X pipe highflows and flowmasters = roughly 500hp 50 state legal daily driver... that will legally rip 10s-9s at the track

Agreed. My '92 LX 5.0 was loud, crude, and had awful brakes but it was the most fun car to drive I've owned so far.

89 5.0 baby! bought it, completely restored it (paint, cloth interior, engine mods) and then sold it about 2 years ago. Have the new 07 5.0 mustang shelby cobra on the way. Down payment!
 
I would totally dig a 5-spd 5.0 with the sedan bodystyle...the hatch was too common and a little fugly. Maybe a little lowered (suspension tweaks), but otherwise stock in appearance. Supercharger would be cool, but don't know how practical that would be.

Actually I have both - although my 92 LX notch is a 2.3L 4 cyl. So I guess it doesn't really count...

If all goes as planned with my drivetrain swap though, the Trans Am will be a beast in the spring!

I used to own an '83 GT than ran 12.8 @ 109 in the 1/4. It had:

4.11 gears, ported cast iron Dart Windsor 2.01/1.6 heads, .544 lift hyd roller cam with 234/242 degrees duration @0.050" lift and a 112 degree lobe center, MAC large tube full length headers, Edelbrock Victor Jr. intake w/700 cfm Holley "double pumper" 4-barrel carburetor.

Now I own a '05 GTO, which is not quite as fast, but infinitely more polished.
