Just curious of any 7950's out there that have been overclocked.

I just installed coolbits and ran the find optimal for the heck of it and got.

570MHz Core and Memory at 750MHz (1500).

Seemed very stable, played oblivion and hitman for a good while and noticed quite a nice little jump in performance without any artifacts or anything.

Gonna see if I can get some more outta it and see what happens.

Anyone else have some numbers?

Edit: Been running at 600/1600 and is still rock solid
:)

i got 600 on my core but only 720 on the memory , no artifacts and still pretty low temp. I got a leadtek 7950. The "optimal settings found were 570 / 750 for me as well but i got some artifacts in certain spots on bf2 so i dropped the memory down a tiny bit and that got rid of em.

Are you leaving it overclocked? Not that I think you need too. just curious.

Mine works nicely at 570@1500. Starts to produce artifacts at 590. As for the RAM, didn't push it over 750, they are 1.4ns anyway.

I don't overclock it though, just tried the limits. The CPU seems to be a much bigger issue for me.

XFX has both the 7950GX2 Extreme and XXX cards.

The Extreme is clocked at 520/1.3 and 570/1.55ghz, respectively. My buddy has the XXX card, and its like having virtually two GTXs. Highly recommended, these cards are BEASTS

You need to edit coolbits to 1A to get it to overclock both cards. Or else it only does one. I think the default value is 8 if I remember correctly. Just open regedit, go to the coolbits entry, and edit it.

I did not even know this! Thanks!

Does any one know how to do this for the 7950GX2. (the edit part)

And can anyone confirm this needs to be done on these cards like a regular SLI setup would have to be.

Thanks

I dont see why it wouldnt need to be overclocked, the same as SLI. Thats basically what it is, SLI on a stick so to speak. I dont have one, so I cant confirm. Doesnt rivatuner show the speeds for the different cards in SLI? I didnt use it very much, but I thought it did. You could test it that way.

I'll have to check that.
I don't have rivatuner installed so i can not confirm that either right now.

If anyone else can confirm this that would be great.

I have to wait till I get home to check :(

EVGA mentioned releasing a water cooled version (black pearl?), which allows further OCing abilities.

Would be awesome to water cool quad SLi.. :Drool;

Hey, m21s, is this on stock cooling? Because that would be amazing. Might think of picking one up myself, one from EVGA so I could step-up just in case something new comes out. :D

Yup stock cooling.

I've been giving this a good workout at these speeds and no problems what so ever.

*keeping fingers crossed* :)
