Aerosmith was quasi Ok in the 80's but couldn't touch what they did in the previous decade ...

Def Leppard was only 80's they didn't put anythin out in the 70s

Aerosmith was good through the 80s...the Get a Grip album was the start of the decline.

And you are right, I always thought DL came out in 78, but I see it was January 1980.
 
I liked the Dio/Sabbath albums (even though it didn't sound like Sabbath) and Ozzy was still rockin'

How about Motorhead?

I'd say the Clash remained strong in the '80s, though the version that toured minus Mick Jones was undeniably lame.

 
In the 70's, they were young, partied every day, got high every day, and drank a 5th of Jack every day.

In the 80's, age caught up with them.... 🙂

Van Halen .. You've found the perfect exclusion .. they were great in both decades (till they lost DLR)
 
Add on Elvis Costello, Kate Bush, Peter Gabriel, and possibly Genesis (at least up until they released Invisible Touch)
