Got a dell dimension that can only handle a 1 slot pci-e video card. I've already upgraded the psu and am looking for a good high end video card. Are there any video cards with 512mb memory that fit in just one slot?

Any particular reason you've fixated on 512MB of RAM as being the defining characteristic of a "high-end" video card?

I think your best bet for a single-slot high-end card is a 7800GTX 256MB. The X1900XT/XTX cards all seem to use dual-slot coolers, as do the X1800XTs. Not sure about the X1900 AIW, though, as it is clocked slightly lower than the XT/XTX, and I can't seem to find a photo of the card right now.

Most 7800GT and X1800XL cards also use single-slot coolers.

The X1900 AIW is single slot: http://www.ati.com/designpartners/media/pc/popups/aiwx1900board.asp

Also to the OP, a 512MB card doesn't really have much of an advantage at this point over a 256MB card. In fact, most of the time having 2GB of RAM can be just as important as an extra 256MB of frambuffer. For instance in looking at the 512MB GTX vs. 256MB GTX the difference in performance is as a result of increases in core and mem speeds and not really because of the extra VRAM. The extra 256MB of frambuffer will, however, reduce stuttering, just as having more system RAM will . . .

The 6200 PCI-E 512MB, a very decent price 512MB.
If you have read the Anandtech 512MB GTX article, you would find out that the extra ram of 512MB cards provide 0% performance increase in every modern game.

you can get x1300s at 512mb. of course then you'd also be retarded and screwing yourself.

i think the reason he wants single slot 512mb is that he has a dell , and it is btx case. btx cases have the vid cards turned backwards so there is physically no space for the dual slot bracket.

if you really needed it, you could just buy a 512mb card, and replace the cooler / bracket with an aftermarket that will have 1 slot bracket on the back.

Actually I believe that most of that is the Turbo cache and really only has 128-256 on board.

Side comment, the X800XL is about the only currently available single slot 512er that I can think of and it still goes for 250-300 at that price you are much better off with a 7800GT or a X1800XL, but the 7800GT would be a better deal and better performer.
