Any 4K optical disc players on the way for PC?

IIRC, you just need a normal BD player, and software that can support 4K, like powerDVD.
As far as I am aware there exists no software currently to playback 4k UHD blurays, your only option is to get a 4k TV and a 4k UHD bluray player standalone player (they cost $300+).

I have a BDXL reader/writer and it can physically read UHD blurays on my computer (as in I can see the disc and files are on the disc), but since it uses AACS 2.0 which is still yet to be cracked as far as I am aware, most UHD blurays simply can't be played back with current software.

The only current way to watch a 4K movie on a computer easily is to have someone who owns a UHD TV and UHD bluray player and a UHD capture card and HDCP stripper. This allows them to capture the source at full bitrate without the DRM, then they upload the re-encoded file without the DRM to pirate sites. Where it can be downloaded and watched anywhere.

Sucks the industry seemingly doesn't want us to buy UHD blurays.

Powers and Principalities.

Like mnewsham, I have three different Blu-ray drives, two of which are BDXL (one old, one new, both Blu (LOL)). Every UHD Blu-ray that I have bought can be read and copied to my server by the BDXL drives, but the encryption makes it impossible (currently) to play the files back. At this point I really have no idea if it will ever happen - be it officially supported software or unofficial crack. I have contemplated buying a HDCP stripper, but the process of playing back in realtime for capture, then re-encoding the capture into a comparable size with the same quality and HDR metadata seems like a lot of effort this early in the game.
