Hey just wondering if there are any 3DSM4 guru's out their willing to help a n00b out :) i wanna learn this i just started reading the User Reference so that should keep me occupied for a week or so and then it would certainly help to have someone take me under their wing.

hmm.. youd think a animator for a major studio would know some stuff in operating 3dsm... or at least have peers to turn to at his work where hes creating the 3d models/scenes with the program he spent a few grand on

Invest in a "project" book.

It will consist of many seperate tutorials and techniques that will result (once combined) in a beautiful creation!

The program is complex as hell, and not something that you can learn from strictly the users reference!

yeah... if you can "afford" the software.. you can afford the training... its gonna be way better then online help...

basiclly what i was trying to say was... its not very typical for someone to just grab 3dsm off of a shelf, bring it home, and just toy around with it...... most "n00bs" lookin for tips downloaded the software... thats all... i used to work for a modeling site using 20 dollar software to create our cs models.... and we'd very often get someone like yourself who'd go for the huge expensive program and try to be an all-star right off the bat without even paying for it.... go buy a cheap program.. learn the concepts.. then move up to a bigger program like 3dsm and buy the frickin software + manual..

I´m a n00b like you :) though I did this for fun from version 4 under dos to version 2.5 on windows and then took a brake, I´m trying to get into it again since I´ll be learning it in school.

Bob if i have access to the tools why should i not use it? You dont need to rag on me for trying to learn. I'm not trying to be an all-star or anything like that, if i was i wouldn't be on this form asking for HELP. I dont know of many allstars who ask for help right off the bat.

Edit: its cool bob, i still wvu
