yeah... if you can "afford" the software.. you can afford the training... its gonna be way better then online help...
basiclly what i was trying to say was... its not very typical for someone to just grab 3dsm off of a shelf, bring it home, and just toy around with it...... most "n00bs" lookin for tips downloaded the software... thats all... i used to work for a modeling site using 20 dollar software to create our cs models.... and we'd very often get someone like yourself who'd go for the huge expensive program and try to be an all-star right off the bat without even paying for it.... go buy a cheap program.. learn the concepts.. then move up to a bigger program like 3dsm and buy the frickin software + manual..
