Any 16 yr olds own a 02 Mustang GT ?

Get ready for some goooooood flaming!

I would say it's a bit on the extreme edge. Buy something sensible, like a Prelude or an Integra.

did u see my insurance thread 😉 ?

just for comparison, i'm lookin at $2600/yr for my BEST quote of full coverage on a 2001 accord sedan (4 cylinder) w/ 0 accidents and tickets in LA.

What's an Extreme? A Chevy S-10 extreme? That gutless POS body-kit-on-a-pickup deal? Forget that. Get the Mustang, or better yet, a used Lightning if you can find one.

Lets see... 16 yr old, no driving experience. V8, coupe. I think you'll be looking at 1/5th the value of the car to insure it (at least).

When I was 18 I bought an '86 prelude for $1200. My insurance was $280 a month. Zero tickets, perfect driving record. And that was with the good student discount. Prepare to get raped.

I'm 17 and my car insurance is roughly $110 a month with Liberty Mututal. Then again, this is with the 2000 taurus se which I bought... which is kinda a far cry from a v8 coupe 🙂

Um you live in LA and insuring one of the 10 most stolen vehicles in the country... yeah your insurance shouldn't be that high

There are more 16 years olds with Mustangs than there are 17 year olds with Mustangs...
how do u know this?
What he's saying is that the 16 year olds either crash or get their cars taken away.

I'm pretty sure it's full coverage. My mom handles the insurance situation, all I do is write her a check for $110 every month.

I wish an insurance company would pick up my idea and install chips in the car that see how safe a driver you are.

I've driven 2 years without a cop talking to me (knock on wood), don't even have a car in my name, am at college and don't drive more than once a week (almost didn't have a car at all--didn't matter to them), when I do drive I drive a 94 Sable, am a very safe driver, and I pay more than my parents combined, somewhere around $150.

Just ticks me off that I pay the same as the kids I know who drive double the speed limit and bob, weave, and tailgate but have never gotten caught. It's stereotyping and a horrible system, although many will call it a necessary evil.
