Wow, talk about misjudging things. All of those were factors that could shape the Android market, but even then I don't think anyone was predicting that they would forever change the landscape.

If Android faces any serious trouble going forward, it's going to either come from lingering problems that become overwhelming (such as malware or unprofitable OEMs) or, more likely, some fundamentally disruptive tech that renders it outdated. Microsoft lost its reputation as a dominant monopolist due to missing the boat on smartphones, for example.
