what antivirus would you recommend for me? I really don't like symantec.

I'd prefer one that works like the symantec server version though.. where I can install the main version on my main PC.. and then install a client on all the laptops and other computers on my network.

Does kaspersky have a version like this?

Why? SAV Corp isn't bloated, can be deployed from the server, and it has respectable detection rates. Kaspersky, Avira, and ESET offer a server version which I assume offer centralized installation, updates, and administration.

I'm not able to disable it when I need to for a short period of time.. when Ir ight click the 'enabled' is greyed out with a checkbox.

also I disabled the mail protection on one of the client computers and it disabled on all of them.. and I couldn't figure out how to get it enabled back again.

I searched on google and there was a bunch of people that had the 'greyed out problem' ..just don't like it.

......

so kaspersky does have a version that works like this then?

That option is customizable on the server using the Symantec System Center. Check the tutorial and notice how you can lock/unlock the option for auto protect.

It sounds like you disabled it on the server. You may want to spend time familiarizing yourself with the program.
