Last I checked three very reliable sources (IMO) said Kaspersky is the best antivirus software. Two of them are IT professionals.

Which one's the best today? Thanks!

Make sure you read this link too.
A Kasparsky full scan causes problems with chkdsk. They use a technique to speed up their full disk scan that writes some information to the ntfs file system.

Kaparsky & chkdsk.

I installed the latest Karsparsky trial, chose the deault, suggested settings and ran a full scan yesterday before I read about this problem. I started a boot time chkdsk this morning. Chkdsk stage did complete but stage 2 stayed at 0% for 5 minutes or so. Some people have reported that chkdsk would not complete on their systems after installing chkdsk.

I don't think that this is a show stopper, but it is something to worry about.

I've been using Norton AntiVirus "religiously" since 2004.

Last year I got their Internet Security Suite 2007, and absolutely love it!

I might be hard on the system on startup, when it does its "Auto Update" thing, and periodically checking for updates (I believe every 4 hours), but i have not had ANY virus/malware issues since.

I also use Webroot's SpySweeper, and I strongly believe that it is superior to any other AntiSpyware application.

These two have been keeping my computer "safe", or however safe it might be, for some time now.
