AntiVirus on WindowsXP same as 2000?

A friend of mine just bought a new laptop, which came with he spyware known as Windows XP (God I hate Windows XP)
we have tried unsuccessfully tried to Upgrade the Laptop to Windows 2000 or even 98SE. But I have rezined to leaving XP on the lap top (for now) and trying to integrate it into my network.
So what I really want to know is, Do all the Antivirus programs that work on Windows 2000 work on XP? I'm thinking of putting Kaspersky Anti-Virus on it since that is my antivirus program of choice.
 
First of all, why do you hate XP? I absolutely love it, it is rock solid and actually has some cool features....But I also loved 2K.. Anyway, your best bet would to be to go to the website, they will almost surely say suppin, but if they dont, i am 99% sure that if it works in 2K, itll work in XP (both on Nt'ish kernel/base)
