I had McAfee but it expired.

I use Norton Security on my PCs, and I have been happy with them. After install, you just go in and turn off the unneeded features like PC tuneup, and idle time optimization. I've used them for years, and I stay with them because I have had no big issues (or malware/viruses) with product.

You can download it from Amazon for under $30 (3 PCs, 1 year). Newegg also has it for download with a 60 day free trial to test it out and see if you like it.

Outside of that, Eset is a good choice as well, but I couldn't find any place where it was under $45.

They all miss something.
There are none that stop everything, so (if you're a fanatic), run multiples.

Norton, Vipre, Peerblock, Herd Protect, (but not Windows Bit Defender).

Wait! Bitdefender is a windows av software?
I googled top 10 av software and bitdefender was 1.

So NM on bitdefender.
What about Kaspersky? I want something on the cheaper side. But I was looking into eset.

He meant windows defender; Bitdefender is third party and one of my favorites. Like he was saying though, no real time AV is perfect which is why the "second opinion" scanners like MBAM, zemana, EEK, and hitmanpro are useful.

I was looking to buy bitdefender on eBay. Some of these sellers are just selling bitdefender central account login credential. Is this legit?

Thanks

I figure free isn't as good as when actually buying it.
I was just curious about purchasing from eBay. It seems some of them just sells u the key. Just wanted to make sure it was legit

I generally don't do software or programs on EBay unless it's sold by a company like Newegg's Ebay store. Too many scams and gray market keys/software.

I personally just pay the $30 per year and get it from Amazon, Newegg, etc.

I have used Bitdefebder free and Microsoft Defender and have been very satisfied with the performance of Both. The latest versions of Defender with Windows 10 does just as well as Bitdeferder, and it comes built it.

Just run Windows Defender that comes with Win10. It's as good as anything that's been mentioned here.

Three important things for home computers. 1. Anti-virus. 2. Patch. Turn on auto patching for your OS and apps.3. Create a non admin account and use that account unless you are doing admin functions. Don't surf the internet as an admin.

I think it's best to choose an antivirus with a good rating.

You might want to examine the methodology used for the rating system first. It's pretty laughably bad most of the time.
