antivirus in win98/XP dual boot?

I would like to know if it is necessary to install antivirus on both the drives containing win98 and XP in dual booting system.When I run antivirus in any of the OSes, winxp or 98, it searches all drives.Isn,t it enough.Please answer.Explanations will bw highly appreciated.

No, it's not enough. You want to enable the realtime scanner in each OS your running, otherwise you may well get infected and not find out until you run the on demand scanner (and some of the newer threats will simply delete the av program, you'll never get a chance to run the ondemand scanner)

I agree with bsobel. If you want the protection the antivirus software provides then install it on each OS. Having it installed on one OS and not the other will leave your machine vulnerable.
