Hey everyone.

Right now I'm a Kaspersky IS 2009 user but my subscription will expire soon and I was wondering if I should just renew Kaspersky or try something else that's a little better. Overall, I'm pretty satisfied with Kaspersky, I don't find it slows down my system much and I like that there are a lot of customizable options. It's also nice that I can install the license on 3 computers at once. I installed it on my parent's computer and my laptop as well. I also know the detection rates of Kaspersky are pretty good compared to others.

But still I wonder if there is not something better than Kaspersky out there. I've heard good things about Avira but I'm not sure if it beats Kaspersky overall when it comes to detection rate, customizable options, performance and overall security.

What do you people think? Any good alternatives to Kaspersky that I should be considering or is Kaspersky a good enough product to just go ahead and renew? I know I like Kaspersky but it's hard to say if there's something better out there when I have not tried other products. I have used Trend Micro and Norton in the past but I find Kaspersky miles better than them. Though I hear the new Norton is good as well...

kaspersky is pretty good..but i'd recommend trying a trial of nod32 to see how you like it.

I'm a long time NOD32 user also.

The truth of the matter is that there is no single product out there that will detect everything. Who's on top changes throughout any given time frame making it impossible to be with "the best". About all you can do is stay with one of the top dogs.

I use free Antivir, and I love it. If I had to purchase A/V I'd buy Antivir.

Hmm... seems to be mixed opinions. I guess I'll just keep Kaspersky if it's still considered one of the "top dogs" as you say.

Kaspersky and AntiVir Personal Edition Premium are both top notch. You cannot go wrong with either one. If you are interested in detection rate tests, check the link in the sticky at the top of this forum.

Believe it or not, I worked on a client's computer with NIS2009 and what a difference that thing in comparison with older versions. Unbelievable.
