AntiVirus for Exchange2003 server

Does anyone recomend a solid / reliable AntiVirus program that can be run on a windows server running Exchange 2003? Symantec's apps run the risk of deleting the entire mail store upon receipt of an infected email, and AVG does not run on Windows Server 2003. Is there a program designed to work smoothly with Exchange?

Thanks Friends, Beni

Personally have used McAfee's Exchange agent on my Exchange servers. AVG Pro also runs on Windows 2003 but requires the paid, not free version. Don;t know if AVG Pro can run on an Exchange server and scan the actual mail store.

The most popular Server AV program in the Small Business Server world is currently Trend CSM's. This integrates with Exchange and scans incoming and outgoing messages for SPAM and viruses.

There are other usable options. Much of it is personal preference. And ALL of them have been known to suffer from mistakes that have shut down people's Servers.

I used to be a big fan of CA's eTrust (NOT the home version). It was dirt cheap and reliable. But I find the most recent (R8) version complicated and messy.

I'm anxious to take a look at Forefront. Personally, I'd really appreciate an MS Server AV program.

Working with AV products from three different vendors is a PITA for me. Every one is different and none seem to have simple lists of requirements for getting their products to work properly with ISA Server 2004. Some use a zillion Inbound and Outbound Ports, as well as Internal web servers.

The Licensing Server portion of the AV software is getting REALLY messy, too. It's WAY too much trouble just to get an AV program deployed to clients PCs. 🙁

We are running Trend Micro Scan Mail on the Exchange and IMSS on the email gateway. It has been serving us well.
