Is there anyway to prevent Antivir from displaying the pop ups while I am in full screen games? (XP Pro)

I know its a free app, and I'm not looking to totally kill the pop up.. but it really sucks when you're in the middle of Fallout 3 and it decides to pop up.. which brings me out of the game. There appears to be no way back into the game once that happens. I had to kill the game with Task Manager. So the ideal thing is some way to prevent it from doing it while in games.

Thanks.

Alternatively, schedule updates when you won't be at the computer. It only pops up during update :^)

In my experience there's two things:

1. Popup nag at startup, and this can be killed permanently. This is documented.

Anandtech thread on stopping the nag popups

2. Pop up window showing progress of daily update, and on my system it happens at 6:00:00 PM, every day. I was looking for a way yesterday to change that to either not happen at all or at another time of day but didn't succeed. It happened again 24 minutes ago. I made some changes to configuration but the changes I made didn't affect this. I care about this partly because I use my main PC for HTPC/HDTV and the screen goes from maximized to not-maximized when the update screen pops up. The level of annoyance depends on what I'm watching, of course.

Yes, I'm using the free version.

Will this stop the daily update notifications?? I'm running XP Pro SP3. Well, I just modified the registry as indicated, so I guess I'll find out next time I'm watching TV on this system full screen at 6:00 PM.

No, that just disables the splash screen at Windows startup.

To get rid of the file download progress window goto View/Administration/Scheduler and set a scheduled event to update at whatever time you like. Under display mode, choose invisible, and then activate that scheduled event. That'll get rid of the file progress window.
