WOW, that's close!, pretty much what the 580 v 5970 are!...
Except it's not.

Err, yes it is...overall.
Except it's not.![]()
Yes it is, its 2% slower, thats not close enough?
This has been covered by another thread and allready established.

People clinging to a comparison running old drivers without the updated crossfire profiles/fixes is not the best of examples or "established."
Same old crap, they ran the wrong drivers, they played with image quality, ect. ect. ect.
The mighty DUAL gpu 5970 with mature drivers will not be faster then 1 gtx580 with mature drivers, face it. Add in crappy quadfire crossfire performance and the 5970's suck ,plain and simple. So want to upgrade later? The gtx580 in sli will blow 2 mighty 5970's out of the water.
So take you 5% , 10% in fact take 15% it doesn't matter, when you go to upgrade your screwed.
The big difference is that the 5970 is a year old and it's throwing down with the best Nvidia can do.
What you seem to forget is the 4870x2 (dual gpu) was more then a year old and threw down with the 5870?
Everyone said how great the 5870 was right?
Now the 5970 (dual gpu) is just a year old and the gtx580 is throwing down with it.
Whats the difference?
Correct, if we are willing to get a dual card, why get a 5970? Why not just Xfire 2 6870's/6850's? Its a valid comparison in a value respect, but its unfair to say XXXX 3 year old dual card is greater than current single card.

So Cayman is not delayed, but Antilles is.

The good news for the company is that its single-chip high-end offerings based on Cayman GPU are still on-track for the fourth quarter launch.
Someone tell me when the last time was the competitor build a GPU faster than the others dual card!...
