Been there, done that. They get extra pissy if you either: eat it extremely rare and comment on the nice blood flavor, announce its venison, have a stuffed deer head in your truck bed, or throw an unskinned deer leg at them and tell them its delicious.

I've done each one but the deer leg (on the same trip, no less), my uncle did that one.

They'll also probably try to crowd you and detract from your meal that way... and maybe even take away your food. I would suggest either taking a truck with a gunrack (I suggest a truck in any case to carry the grill), or just going with a group of your buddies. When I went it was with a bunch of my buddies, so we didnt have a problem, but most of them looked like they we're in the midst of either a stroke or a seizure 😀

Trust me on this one. Get some venison. Or have a steak and yell about how great your "venison" steak is (and cook it as bloody as you can stand), and how that dang deer "took its sweet time dying, thrashing around and spraying blood all over!" They will attempt to confiscate the meat at this point if you do it right.

Make some signs like "If God didnt want us to eat animals, why did he make them out of meat?" or other anti-vegitarian signs with very little intellectual value. The idea is to make them think you represent all that they hate, thus increasing their impotent rage. Call them on this (being unable to do anything about it, that is). I would suggest umbrellas to sheild your plate from any debris that the hippies decide to hurl. If you get motovated, plant a friend or two in the crowd, have them loudly announce that the grilling smells good, and come over to your area to eat. Again, its all about pissing off hippies.

I think you are confusing those who exercise their freedom of speech as being unpatriotic. On the contrary, it would be unpatroitic not to speak out in dissent if you feel your government is wrong...or to speak up for it if you feel it's right. What is truly unpatriotic is to label those who are exercising their rights and their duty as Un-American whether you agree with them or not. Wrapping one's ignorance and foolishness in an American Flag doesn't make it patriotic, just an extremely pathetic attempt to do so. It's possible and more than probable that those who protest this war will support our troops, just not our governments decision to send them there.

BTW, I'm not Anti War but I am anti Idiot.. Idiots who think this War is going to be some Grand Adventure
