Right on, come to campus and preach that for me!

Theres probably 20% of kids on campus here with valid anti virus with correct updates, etc. Probably 75% have something installed and the other 25% feel they are too good to need anti virus. The results of that are internet speeds at less than 56k. It really sucks right now and I'll be lucky to get this posted.

That just means who ever runs your schools network sucks. I bet most of your bandwidth is going towards running warez and porn servers.

Yup, good ole Norton. It has stopped a few virri comming from other peoples machines (LAN parties) and it tells me when I have an infected file in my email or what not.

Use NAV on all of our computers at home. It seems that my kids can get stuff off of Kazaa or AIM that NAV does not always intercept.

i use norton, it catches most everything that tries to throw itself on my machine.

I use norton, however, I feel I'm smart enough not to get a virus if I didn't. I just like having an extra layer of protection there in case I mess up once.

Talk about paranoid. If you're going to waste time doing nightly whole drive scans you might as well leave it up and running. If you're not going to then scan once a week/month.

The scans are scheduled and occur when I am sleeping. They do not "waste" my time.

Only times it has helped me is when I'm downloading from kazaa and one of my downloads is a bogus file thats really a virus.

btw I use Norton Antivirus 2003.

I don't keep anti-virus software installed. once a year i'll download a trial version and run it on my system 3 years. no viruses. just be smart and careful about what you download...my mom and brothers computers on the other hand have anti-virus software and have had numerous viruses...it's based upon the user, not the software.

Anti-Virus software is a must if you go to any Lan's. I went one, there was a guy who was proud that he never had a virus in his life, and he never had a virus scanner. Guess who's computer got flagged by norton all the time b/c any communication between the two computers contained some virus.

I bet not. The school doesnt even use all the allotted bandwidth when we are virus free (which is almost never.) The switches and servers suck and are 10 years old, and there is 1 part time tech for all the servers and switches on campus. Too bad the upgrades to all that are going to happen next year when I'm out of the dorms.

I run Norton Corporate 8.1 at work and at home (since I telecommute), and it has yet to let me down. In fact, it stopped this latest round of worms before the firewall was able to identify them.
