Anti virus for terminal services?

As long as each computer, client and host, have their own AntiVirus Program, they should be fine. As for security, you need to get a firewall, which will prevent anyone from attacking either pc.

As for prottecting the actual connection, you will need to set your session to the highest form of encrytion. This needs to be done by the administrator of the AdvServer Host or Win2k host. I am the administrator, and I go into Terminal server configuration. My security is set at 128-bit which should keep those punk a$$ script kiddie b$stards from messing with it...
Where are my manners...:Q

I don't have anything important on there anyways... 😀

hope this helps...

EDIT: HAD TO CENSOR MY SCRIPT KIDDIE BASHING FOR THE KIDDIES😉

As long as you set permissions properly and use appsec you shouldn't worry too much about viruses. But I will say NAI's product seemed to cause problems on more than one of our TS boxes at work, I believe we'll be putting Trend Micro's product on new ones.

Well if I was the kiddie in question and I noticed you were encrypting the pipe, if I wasn't really intent on stealing info, I would just DoS the box, TS really likes it when you open a lot of connections and don't close them properly =)

You can DoS any box Nothinman, what's your point?

He seemed to be putting to much faith in the 128-bit encryption, especially when dealing with script kiddies. If one script to get the data doesn't work, I'll just get pissed and fire up one that DoS' the box.

I suppose it depends on the situation.
I've worked in places where the data integrity is more important than uptime, and Ive worked in places where it was the opposite.
(of course this is relative, both are extremely important imo)

By that I just meant that I don't want anyone hacking into my box...

The actual box is behind a NAT and another Firewall, and it is under a desk in my room. Uptime is really the wrong term to describe my situation. I actually on ly the have the server running because I ran out of space to put harddrives in my antec SOHO 1030w case.

As for uptime, I KNOW that a DoS will kill the connection. Fortunately, the machine is only accessable from my machine, and not internet..i.e. the firewall only accept inner-network transmissions. Still one of little bastard$(hehe) could still take her down, but at least they won't get access

As for your purposes, You would have to describe the situation and your priorities. A nice hardware firewall should be able to fend for itself agains t mediocre DoS attacks..then again. thos bastids always have tricks(scripts) up their sleeves...😀
